Hema Malini, Actress-turned-politician, met with an accident in Dausa on her way from Agra to Jaipur. According to news reports, her Mercedes rammed into an Alto near Dausa, in Rajasthan. There were five occupants in the Alto car - 2 women, 2 children and a man, a Dausa district official, said Dausa Collector, Swaroop Panwar, in a PTI report. The collector has further added that the girl child in the Alto car died in the accident near Dausa Highway at 8.50 pm while the survivors were seriously injured.
Hema Malini has sustained severe injuries on the forehead. She has received a stitch on her head and is reported to be fine by her close aide. Hema Malini was rushed to the Fortis hospital from the accident spot.
"Hema ji herself stepped in the car after the accident. She also walked inside the hospital by herself" Shankar Lal Sharma, BJP MP, has been quoted as saying in a PTI report.
The Rajasthan Police have arrested veteran actress, Hema Malini's driver, Mahesh Thakur. He has been booked under sections 304, 337 and 338 on July 3, after the Bharatiya Janata Party MP's car was involved in a fatal road accident on July 2. The police had earlier filed an FIR against the driver after the accident, which occurred near Jaipur, left a girl child dead and Hema Malini injured. "The child, who has died, was in the Alto. She was a resident of Lal Chowk. Hema was in Mercedes. Both vehicles collided," said an eyewitness in a PTI report. However, Hema Malini's driver, Mahesh Thakur claims that he is innocent. He argues that it was the Alto car's driver, who turned the car without indicating.
